Quick International Courier Implements
Extensive Tech Upgrade
QuickOnline High Availability Brings Speed, Reliability to
24/7 Emergency Transport Operation
Significant Technology Investment Comes at Critical Time in Transport Industry
New York, NY (July 11, 2002) Quick International Courier announces the completion of an extensive technology upgrade designed to keep the company up and running even under the most rigorous conditions. Called QuickOnline High Availability, the project has brought an unparalleled level of reliability, speed, security and flexibility to Quick's operation.
Weve built our business on the principles of speed, reliability and top notch customer service, said Quick President Robert Mitzman. This investment in technology at a time when many companies are scaling back, is critical to our ability to fuel growth and continue to provide critical services and solutions to the many different industries we service.
The Quick IT team has installed redundant Sun server clusters in a lights-out collocation environment accessed via a fully optical, switched and redundant Broadwing Virtual Private Network. Quick has also upgraded its database and has released new software designed to take full advantage of new technologies and capabilities such as XML, Web services and Voice over IP. The new systems are fast, secure, cost efficient and scalable for the next ten years of technology growth.
Quick CTO Eric Bischoff explains the technology behind the project in layman's terms: "We installed two of everything. The goal of this project is to achieve maximum uptime; to solidify our infrastructure with the most secure, fastest and most sophisticated technology available."
All Quick customers will begin to see the benefits of this upgrade immediately, no matter how they use the services. Those calling in by phone will be greeted by customer service and operations specialists equipped with far more information at their fingertips including comprehensive flight information, weather data, news, world holidays, traffic and potential problem spots in the world. The system also provides customer service personnel with intelligence derived from over ten years worth of historical data, enabling rapid reference and accurate implementation. Customers using the well-received QuickOnline Web self-service software will find that new technology enhancements have made the system rock solid. This upgrade ensures that all of these services are up and running at full speed 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
Customers taking advantage of Quick's more advanced technology offerings will also benefit tremendously from the upgrade. Designed for secure, encrypted file exchanges between customers, vendors, airlines and partners, the new QuickOnline High Availability system was constructed with an eye toward the next generation of urgent transportation.
